Innovative Nozzle Lever Gives Customers Control When Fueling

PACIFIC, MO – Engineers at Husky Corporation are introducing a new product that will make you say “I wish I’d thought of that!” EZ Lever makes re-fueling vehicles easy by requiring approximately half the force to operate compared to standard fuel nozzle levers.

EZ Lever is great for rounding-off fuel purchases to the exact penny, for people who have trouble squeezing ordinary levers and for full-service fuel operations.

“You will notice the difference. It works very smoothly and easily,” said Husky Engineering Manager Rob Brown. “EZ Lever will help any number of people, including those with disabilities, more easily operate fuel nozzles. Customers have more control over how much fuel they dispense.”

A unique two-piece design allows EZ Lever to open the poppet, or main fuel nozzle valve, with approximately five pounds of force. Standard single-piece levers require 10 pounds of force or more to begin dispensing fuel. As a result, EZ Lever adheres to Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) guidelines.

“By changing the fulcrum point, less force is required to get fuel flowing. At the same time, it provides a great degree of control over the amount of fuel being dispensed at normal operating pressures, said Zach Holcomb, Husky Design Engineer.”

EZ Lever has received positive feedback from test sites, especially where fuel is more expensive. Full-service fuel attendants, which are common around the world, appreciate the ease of operation and precise dispensing made possible by EZ Lever.

“From our perspective, a real advantage comes in countries where gas prices get really high. Customers and gas attendants can easily round up the purchase to the nearest penny. That includes several countries in Asia and Australia,” Brown said.

When used on Husky Model X nozzles, fuel flow will be identical to nozzles equipped with a one-piece lever. Fuel pumped with EZ Lever on Model V34 nozzles will flow 1.5 to 2 gpm more than with a one-piece lever at 10 psi back pressure.
